Central Government imposes limit on wheat stock holding
Centre imposes stock holding limit for wheat, which shall be applicable until 31st March, 2025 in all States and UTs.
To manage overall food security of the nation and prevent hoarding of food grains and consequent unscrupulous speculation with its prices, Central Government is imposing stock holding limits on wheat and this shall be applicable to traders/wholesaler, retailers, big chain retailers and agri processors in all States and Union Territories.
Stock limits mentioned below are limits applicable for each entity individually:
Wholesaler- 3000 MT for each of the wholesaler
Retailer- 10 MT for each of the Retail outlets;
Big Chain Retailer- 10 MT for each outlet and 3000 MT at all their depots
Processors- 70% of Monthly Installed Capacity (MIC) multiplied by remaining months of FY 2024-25.
In case the stock held by the entities are higher than the government prescribed limit, then they have to bring the same to within the prescribed stock limits, within 30 days of issue of this notification.
Also, the respective entities shall have to declare their stock position and update them regularly on Department of Food and Public Distribution's portal (https://evegoils.nic.in/wsp/login)
